Will Nike change the NBA? (Digital Trends)

“NBA commissioner Adam Silver says Nike will take the NBA to a level Adidas never did. In his first interview with sports magazine Slam, Silver said he thinks Nike’s approach to NBA apparel will be fundamentally different than Adidas due to Silver believing that “Adidas was not endemic to basketball” and is more of a soccer company than a basketball company. “As I said, thank you to Adidas, they’ve been wonderful partners,” Silver states. “But I think Nike is ready to take it to another level.” Adidas is the top brand in soccer; it has nearly twice as many sponsorships with National soccer clubs than Nike.”

Under Armour estimates looks good (Barrons)

“Her bullish thesis is predicated on the belief that Under Armour’s momentum will continue, with product innovation, high profile sponsorships , and expanded points of distribution.”

adidas sues Ecco (Footwear News)

“On Wednesday, Adidas America Inc. and parent company Adidas AG filed a lawsuit against Ecco USA Inc. and Ecco SKO A/S. The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court of Oregon, claims that Ecco has infringed against Adidas’ decades-old trademark by “offering for sale and selling footwear featuring three and four parallel stripes on the side of the shoe.””
